MIMIKA is an interactive experience, developed in collaboration with EPSON and PRASE Media Technologies, that investigates the boundary between body and code. The artwork captures hand gestures and translates them in real time into dynamic, abstract, or geometric visual forms in constant transformation, generated by a parametric algorithm
The project was created using TouchDesigner paired with a high-definition webcam configured for precise motion recognition. This hardware and software setup enables reliable hand tracking, allowing users to “paint” across the projection surface through gesture-based interaction.
The interaction unfolds on two layers: in addition to free creation of digital flows, the system recognizes specific predefined gestures. These act as commands for an invisible interface, allowing the user to switch between three generative patterns and modify the aesthetics and behaviour of the visuals in real time.
