ForFuorisalone 2024, we renewed our collaboration withTHIA design studiofor the “Corpo Unico” project, an immersive installation hosted in theQuexhibition space in the Brera Design District. The work explores the age-old relationship between light and contemporary art, interacting withSalvatore Astore‘s monumental steel sculptures. Within the space, artificial light simulates the solar cycle, shifting direction and color temperature to cast dynamic shadows that constantly reshape the surrounding environment.

Inspired by this dance between sun and sculpture, we conceived and developedSolar Resonance, a generative sound design project that examines the dynamic relationship between the cosmos and the environment. Using Max MSP software, we created analgorithm capable of processing astronomical and climate data in real timevia dedicated APIs. The result is a constantly evolving soundscape that reflects solar movements and actual atmospheric variations, transforming scientific data into pure emotion.

The composition interweaves diverse sound textures:metallic dronesresonating with the steel of Astore’s works blend withorganic soundssuch as breathing and heartbeat. This sensorial narrative, instantly adapting to external stimuli, invites visitors to reflect on the profound interdependence between natural cycles and human perception.

Infinitude. A circular lighting experience

In the exhibition space designed by Qu Lighting in the Brera district for the2023 Milan Design Week, we created an audio-lighting installation, Infinitude. A circular lighting experience, using analog LED strips controlled via MadMapper.

The beating heart of Infinitude is a15-hoursound composition, designed to evolve in sync with the daily cycle. We drew onNASA‘s open-source databases, acquiring real sound samples of cosmic frequencies, and artistically reworked them to animate the site-specific installations designed by architectsParisotto+Formenton and Lighting Company. The result is a work of generative sound art that translates the infinity of space into an intimate and tangible perceptual experience.

The performance’s goal was to engage the audience on a journey, guiding them through the courtyard and then inviting them to sit on circular seats, illuminated by pulsating lights that mimicked the rotation of satellites in the orbits of the planets. The journey continued into the interior room, which housed pieces from the Magritte collection, arranged in luminous constellations with a striking aesthetic. The experience concluded in the greenhouse, where lights and plants created shifting atmospheres, reminding us of the permeability that characterizes and unites light and nature.
The installation was conceived as a cyclical narrative divided into four acts—morning, afternoon, sunset, and night—in which the intensity of the LEDs and the soundscapes change according to the rhythm of natural light.
