The Living Canvas
This interactive installation was created to revolutionize the experience of art in museums and exhibitions. The work presents itself as a digital mirror that breaks down the barrier between observer and subject: by standing in front of the screen, visitors see their own image reflected and transformed in real time into a pictorial masterpiece. This is not a simple static filter, but a fluid reworking guided by Generative Artificial Intelligence.
The system allows you to explore the history of art through different stylistic lenses, adapting the user’s physiognomy and movements according to iconic aesthetics. The visual journey ranges from the solemn geometries ofEgyptian artto the marble nobility ofRoman statues, passing through the classical elegance of theRenaissance. The transformation continues through the perspective decompositions ofCubism, the aggressive dynamism ofFuturism, and the ethereal delicacy ofWatercolor, culminating in the surreal visions ofArcimboldiand the vibrant impact ofPop Art.
The core of the project is developed inTouchDesigner, which manages interaction and video processing with zero latency. The installation is optimized for a setup withEpson projectorsused in portrait mode, a technical choice that respects and enhances the traditional format of the canvas portrait.
